What is Lead Generation and it’s Importance to VAs – A few months ago, I joined in one of the online courses in our <a href=’http://www.professionalvas-academy.com/’>Professionalvas-Academy</a> site about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Later on the course, I learned it’s relation to lead generation and its importance for virtual assistants and any online entrepreneurs alike.
In marketing, <a href=’http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_generation’>lead generation</a> is the generation of consumer interest or inquiry into products or services of a business. Some people call them “list” but others treat them as gold.
This is where sales, surveys and referrals come from and may be obtained through thorough marketing efforts and strategies.
If you’re not so familiar with opt-ins, you may read my previous post about it. Meanwhile, let’s continue discussing about lead generation.
There are two methods to get leads.

Organic leads come from unpaid online activities such as social media, blogs, videos, emails, newsletters or ezines

For every business, it is important to generate “quality leads” and every business that knows about it strives hard for it.
For example, you have 100,000 leads and converts 5% of it to sales. That’s already 5,000 customers buying from you. Yes, it’s a numbers game, too! That’s the reason why more and more people use opt-in pages to increase their leads that may soon turn into sales. What if you only have 1,000 leads? 5% of that is only 50 customers, giving you lesser chances of getting customers. See the difference?
Some marketing specialists have also found a way to increase the chances of converting leads to buyers by tweaking the opt-in page designs, the sales copy that goes with it, frequency of sending emails, joint ventures (leads sharing through affiliates) and other marketing strategies.
They all work but finding a good combination that would work for your chosen niche (product or services) and ideal market takes time a lot of trial and error.
Lead generation is a huge topic and a very important one. A few weeks ago, there is a lead generation network launched for a local real estate company here in Cavite, Philippines. The project is called Lancaster New City Cavite, one of the biggest real estate project in the country.
The idea of bringing their lead generation online is new to them but they decided to go with it anyway. They invited a group of bloggers, SEO experts, marketing enthusiasts and online influencers to join the network and be a part of the team that will generate leads for them.
This is a challenge and very new to me, too. In fact, I still don’t have a clear idea how to do it but I joined in order to learn more about it and gain experience.
